As I reflect on my recent “adventure”, I’m reminded how important life experiences are in teaching us to be alert to our needs. You can be sure that once my legs relaxed, I was hyper-alert to any firm ground along the shoreline.  After all, there was no alternate route back to our destination.  And even though I could feel the after-effects of draining adrenaline, I made sure I had a plan if it happened again! Luckily, I knew what I needed….a firm surface for my feet (even if that firmness came in the form of a vertical tree!).

Hopefully you never experience that kind of panic. But we all have times in our lives when we’re forced to make strong choices.  If time is a restriction, how can I choose between spending time with two people I love?  What if I must choose between two options and I really love them both?  What if I must choose between two options, and I don’t like either one?  The key is to do some soul-searching ahead of time.  Do you know what you really need in order to function at your best?  I have found that most of us haven’t identified our personal needs.  And yet, clearly identifying your “non-negotiables”, and installing systems to get them met will improve your life.  Getting your needs met means that you can get past your needs and focus on what you value most.  Needs will no longer drive your behavior. To me, that’s real freedom! Take a few minutes right now to inventory your “Personal Needs”.  And if you’ve done that in the past, consider updating your knowledge.  After all, needs evolve.  Just click on the button below to get your free “Personal Needs Inventory” now.

“At 64, I found myself longing for a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment.  I just had no idea what it might be nor where to find the inspiration. I’ve used personal trainers for my body, so why not a coach for my life? Linda Cobb provided me with an encouraging environment and effective tools that I can easily employ.  The shifts I’ve experienced have had a remarkable impact on enjoying each new day.  Thanks Linda.  I love my new toolbox!
